Safety

We're building CallByrd in a category — phone conversations with AI about your inner life — where the cost of getting safety wrong is real. Here's what we do, what we don't do, and what to do if you need help right now.

If you're in crisis right now

Please call or text 988— the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. They're trained for exactly this, and they're available 24/7. If you're in immediate physical danger, call 911.

Sam and Claire are AI. They are not crisis counselors. If you mention being in crisis on a call, they'll tell you the same thing this page does and offer to stay on the line while you dial.

What CallByrd is not

How we enforce this

Every call starts with a system prompt that includes our safety rules. The assistant is told, in plain language, to refuse medical / financial / legal advice and to refer to 988 if it hears crisis language.

Every call ends with an automated transcript scan that flags conversations containing crisis or advice patterns. Flagged calls go to a human reviewer on our team within 24 hours so we can verify the assistant responded correctly and follow up if something needs attention.

We're a small team and we don't pretend our safety system is perfect. It's a layered backstop, not a guarantee. If you ever feel like Sam or Claire said something wrong, please tell us at hello@callbyrd.com.

Data + privacy

We don't sell your data, share it, or train any AI on the content of your conversations. Recordings live on your account so you can revisit them; you can delete any of them, or all of them, anytime. See the privacy policy for the long version.

If you're worried about someone

If someone you care about is using CallByrd and you're concerned about them, please reach out to a real person who can help. The 988 Lifeline has resources for friends and family too. We don't share individual call content with anyone outside our small safety team — but if you write to us at hello@callbyrd.com with a concern, a real person will read it and respond.
